SERV Wessex relies on volunteers for all aspects of the Service. We are keen to hear from you would like to volunteer as a dispatcher. BUT you don’t have to be motorcyclist to support them. A Dispatcher performs a very crucial function within the team & is performed from the comfort of your own home. You don’t need to live within our area, just have a good geographical knowledge of it. You will need access to a computer or laptop & two phones. There are both day and night shifts available.
Dispatcher Requirement
- Be available for at least 3 duties per month.
- Be in possession of a PC/laptop or similar with internet access, mobile phone and land line.
- Be able to carry out dispatcher duties for up to 12 hours sometimes without much sleep. Some dispatchers opt to do consecutive shifts so could be up to 24 hours without much sleep.
- Be willing to attend a half-day training course in a central location to include theory and practical dispatching duties.
